Crafty Cactus Party Planter |

Hot summer colors shout “fun.” To make sure your next
party has plenty of both, top off a playful place setting with a favor
that really grows on you. An easy-care cactus in a sunny pot makes
a lively take-home memento for a Cinco de Mayo party, Mexican fiesta,
Texas-style barbeque or a festive birthday bash. The terra cotta
pot and baby cactus are readily available at your local garden center,
and the ceramic cube can be found online at Fidalgo’s
Home Flair. Stack them one-two-three on vibrant Fiestaware
to rustle up some fun in the sun. Here’s How: 1. Spray a miniature terra cotta pot with primer; let dry, then spray with a bright color of glossy paint (orange shown here). Let the first coat dry to the touch, then apply a second coat. 2. Fill the pot with potting soil and plant a small cactus (available at craft stores and garden centers). 3. Slip the pot into the top of a yellow ceramic cube and center it on orange ceramic plates. Terrific Tip: If you can’t find a cactus, pick up a small succulent, jade plant, a sprig of lucky bamboo, a Gerbera daisy or a chili pepper plant at the grocery.
